One question a day. For two.
Question of the day is the calm ritual of couple space: one question in the morning, both of you answer, Kaiku opens both answers when ready. The questions aren't random — they take couples deeper.
One question, not random
No barrage of questions, no forced rhythm. One question in the morning — you can answer any time during the day. The question rotates through eight themes so the conversation stays fresh.
Connection, Communication, Daily life, Closeness, Appreciation, Dreams, Challenges, Future. Kaiku balances the themes and doesn't get stuck on one topic. Two minutes a day — in a year you'll have spoken about 365 topics that would otherwise have stayed unsaid.
- 1One question a day — no forced rhythm, you can answer any time.
- 28 themes in rotation — Kaiku doesn't get stuck on the same topic.
Your partner's answer shows only after you've answered
When one answers first, the answer doesn't show to the partner directly. The lock forces both to think for themselves before seeing the other's thoughts. This avoids copied answers.
The partner's answer is shown in grey, slightly blurred — you know they answered, but the content is protected. One tap reveals it the moment you send yours. If you saw your partner's answer first, you might reply to that instead of your own thought.
- 1Answer field blurred — you know your partner answered, but the content is protected.
- 2"Answer to reveal" button opens your partner's answer the moment you send yours.
Free text, in your own words
The answer is short or long, your choice. No preset options, no multiple choice. When you send your answer, your partner's answer opens immediately. You have 72 hours.
After 24 hours Kaiku gives one gentle reminder: "Question of the day is waiting." After that the question simply expires and a new one comes tomorrow. No pressure to answer right away — but if you skip twice, the streak resets.
Both answered — Kaiku connects
When both of you have answered, the answers open side by side and Kaiku makes one short insight from both of your words. No analysis, no labels — just one warm observation that connects you.
A gold card stands out visually — a small catalyst for conversation. Kaiku's insight isn't an answer or advice. It's a funny, warm or perceptive thing that you'll ask each other about as the conversation continues.
- 1Kaiku's observation in a gold-bordered card — one warm insight, not a lecturing analysis.
Streak and categories — Kaiku rotates themes
The streak rewards consistency: 7, 14, 30, 50 and 100 days are small celebrations. Kaiku makes sure the questions vary across 8 categories and don't get stuck on the same theme.
🔥 + number appears at the top of every question card. The streak resets only if both of you skip twice in a row. The streak isn't a stress mark — it's a happy reminder that you two have done something meaningful every day.
47 questions — shared history
Questions of the day are archived in chronological order. You can go back to old answers later. "What was I thinking three months ago" is a surprisingly strong window into your own life.
Chronological order: newest on top, older below. You can scroll back. A year from now you can read again and notice how you've changed. A couple's notebook — the kind few relationships build.
Why this works
The streak isn't mandatory — it only resets if you both skip twice. A small win every day, not a stress mark.
One small question in the morning, but it brings us into the middle of the day. I realize we wouldn't have talked about these things if Kaiku hadn't asked.
Common questions about question of the day
Who sees my answer?
Only your partner sees your answer — and only after you've sent it. Kaiku sees both to make one insight. The answers aren't shared with anyone else.
What if I don't have time to answer the same day?
You have 72 hours. After 24 hours Kaiku gives one gentle reminder. After that the question expires and a new one comes tomorrow.
Why don't I see my partner's answer before mine?
The lock protects honesty. If you saw your partner's answer first, you might reply to that instead of your own thought. The lock keeps the conversation honest.
Can I choose the questions myself?
Not at the moment — Kaiku rotates 8 categories and changes themes himself. This keeps the conversation fresh and takes couples to themes they wouldn't pick themselves.
What happens if we argue?
Question of the day doesn't disappear. You can answer when you've calmed down, or skip it. The streak resets only if you skip twice in a row.
Can I go back to old answers?
Yes. All questions and answers are archived chronologically. You can scroll back and read what you've talked about.
